Since childhood, I’ve always been a numbers nerd. My passion for numbers led me to qualify as an Chartered Accountant, starting my journey with one of the Big Four accounting firms in London. There, I worked with some of the largest organizations in the world, gaining invaluable insights into corporate finance and methodologies that help businesses scale.
As an accountant, I often faced a barrage of questions from business owners about accounting practices and essential financial knowledge. It was surprising to see how many lacked crucial information needed to make informed decisions. I realized there was a significant knowledge and communication gap that needed to be addressed. This motivated me to take action.
What began with a few curious inquiries evolved into a blog, @savvyaccountant on Instagram, and eventually the launch of Numbers Accountants. I built everything from scratch, including the website, and personally tested all the products I recommend to clients. Yes, I was my own guinea pig! This hands-on approach allowed me to truly understand the challenges faced by business owners.
By experiencing the journey firsthand, I gained a deep appreciation for the time-consuming and often lonely process of setting up a business. I understood the excitement of launching a project, only to be delayed by administrative hurdles like tax deadlines. While I was fortunate enough to enjoy working with numbers and have friends in the legal industry to assist with documentation, I struggled with the marketing aspect. Realizing it was best left to experts, I took a three-month marketing course and eventually built my website.
The course connected me with marketing professionals who provided invaluable guidance. This experience inspired me to create a safe space for business owners to ask questions about their finances without fear of judgment. It’s incredibly satisfying to see my clients gain confidence and feel more relaxed, knowing their finances and regulatory obligations are in good hands.
